Based off my games in MTGA, decks seem to be more cohesive than in paper draft for this reason. This doesn't seem to be the case for Quick Draft. You know, if 5 of the 8 players in a typical paper draft all go for red/green, you'd expect their decks to be weaker due to card scarcity. It feels like players have better decks than in paper draft because players are not restricted by getting draft suffocation. ![]() Good wholesome 40-card Magic where you hope the opponent didn't get more bombs than you. Playing Quick Draft plays just like you'd expect. I'm hopeful that the draft bots cannot be abused to allow for players to create incredibly strong draft decks, but that's yet to be seen. However, it is a very fast system and players can pick cards at whatever speed they would like. For one, the bots can often pass over really good bombs, and sometimes it even feels like you have an entire color or two to yourself. ![]() I'm unsure if I like the bots in the draft process or not. I feel like I can pick cards that benefit the deck 100% of the time instead of being caught up in "Well gotta pick this $20 rare" that sometimes happens in paper magic. So I've drafted a few times today, and after getting back in the swing of Hour of Devastation drafting (man it's been a while, huh?) and building a fairly solid Black/White deck that went to 7 wins, I'd like to write about my experience.įirst, drafting in MTGA feels fun. ![]()
